Boston Scientific EXALT
EXALT Model D - Duodenoscope that received breakthrough device designation after release for single-use application
Boston Scientific Endoscopy - R&D Engineering Co-op - Therapeutic Imaging EXALT Model D
January 2020 - June 2020
Duties -
I worked with the Therapeutic Imaging team as a research and development co-op creating and testing design changes to currently commercialized product
Focused mostly on testing protocols and executing test methods to produce data for analysis of the design changes
Became familiar with common testing policies, data analysis methods with Minitab as well as large team dynamics and strategies
After getting sent home for COVID-19, work-from-home consisted of drafting 15+ SolidWorks drawings for fixture and equipment qualification by a drafting specialist
Was able to obtain my Certified SolidWorks Associate certification during the co-op
Challenges and Skills Gained-
As this was my first co-op experience, it was a full introduction into biomedical devices as well as the general engineering workflow and expectations
Test methods being fairly new allowed me to learn best practices of both data collection as well as analysis
Skills Gained - Minitab, Instron, Bluehill, SolidWorks
